DIY Closet Door Hat Rack

TLDR: I made this...

Ok so my husband has a million hats and I do mean a million. I have given up on trying to get him to scale back. Whenever I seem to get him to part with one, ten more show up. So I have struggled with that storage. For a while these over the door option, like below, seemed like the best solution.

But they only hold 18 hats and it's just not enough. This is a picture of his closet. I found these racks and really like the idea of them.

But the rack was only 15". The hooks were open S and I could see hats falling. I thought for sure we could do better.

 What I used was:
 Boot clips - https://amzn.to/3BihJvF
 Curtain rod with 2inch clearance - https://amzn.to/3RrOHzm

I got the 30 pack of the hooks and it was enough to make two racks. I followed the instructions for hanging the curtain rod. If you have hallow doors like the one I have you will need to use the provided anchors. The result: Pretty happy with how it turned out. I can squeeze almost all the hats that used to fit on one door now in one rack. You can see all the empty door space now. I plan to add another one or two to our hallway closet and do the same in my husband's closet. I also plan to use these for winter hats and gloves. Stay tuned for an update.
